Hola! Another week and another email. So here we go.
First, I have not received your package yet. I think the Lord is trying to tell me to forget worldly things and focus on the work. I hope you did not send anything special through the regular mail, because I do not have much faith in it either.
This week I also learned that Peru does not have a Thanksgiving, period. Surprise! Our zone is planning on having a thanksgiving feast the Monday before and maybe a turkey bowl also. On the bright side, we get to go to Central Lima this transfer. Every once in a blue moon the missionaries get to spend a pday in central Lima and it truly the pday of all pdays.
I can´t believe you decorated the tree already. I was actually tempted to buy a small Christmas tree at Metro for my room, but then I did not want to carry it on the bus, and I remembered that I am just a poor boy from a rich family that just happens to be far, far, away. So instead I bought a Christmas mug and drink my hot chocolate in it, even though it is becoming insanely hot.
My new companion, Elder Benavides, is almost my second padre. Elder Bustamante will always be my actual padre, but he was a little ready to get home and so I am currently learning many things from Elder Benavides that I should have learned from Elder Bustamante. Seriously though, Elder Benavides is amazing. He has two years in the church as a member and one of those years he completed in the mission. He knows the scriptures just as well as any other missionary and can connect with the investigators with ease. He has little patience though for dogs and drunks which is a small problem for us because dogs and drunks are a big problem for Lima. Oh, yeah, I am in the same area.
Elder Spencer is doing amazing with the language and is going to be a truly amazing missionary. We have talked many times about life in the field and life afterwards. We have helping each other and I know that God put us here together for a reason.
In church yesterday, we had an old investigator, Kilder (17) attend with his friends in the ward. He came in a white shirt and tie, which is more than some of the members. We talked to him after church and he said that he wants another date for baptism. He said that Elder Bustamante was great, but felt that he pushed him to get baptized the first time and he wasn´t ready. Now we have a date for the 27th of this month and Chipy, his friend, is going to baptize him. I can´t wait to send pictures of it because it is going to be really special.
Not much happened this week. We have been working hard and I encourage all of you to work hard in missionary work because it truly is the work of all members. I pray all is going well and till next week.
